Lesson 03 - Pad: Your First Solid
By the end of this lesson you will:
- Turn a sketch into a 3D solid.
- Understand what Pad does.
- Have your first simple part on screen.
Step 1 - Select the sketch
In the model tree, select the sketch you created in the previous lesson.
Why?FreeCAD needs to know which 2D profile you want to turn into solid material.
Step 2 - Click Pad
Click Pad. Accept the default length for now, or enter a simple value such as 10 mm.

What just happened?The Pad feature added thickness to your sketch. This is one of the most common operations in Part Design.

You created your first 3D solid in FreeCAD. It may be simple, but it contains the core workflow: Body -> Sketch -> Feature.
